Ok, I'm a bit biased in writing about Langley, Washington. It's been my home for nearly 35 years, and it's still my favorite place on the planet. I usually don't write about my hometown all that much. It's not that I don't want to share it ... well, in a way I don't! But with so many friends who own shops and businesses in this so-called Village by the Sea, we welcome visitors and are more than happy to show off our town.
Located on Whidbey Island in Puget Sound, Langley is a mixture of old-timers, entrepreneurs, hippies, artists, retirees, young families, commuters and anybody else who has ever dreamed of living on an island. There's no stop light in the town (but there are stop signs and speed limits, so slow down!). And we don't have a Starbucks, McDonald's or any big box stores. But we have four independently owned book stores, an arts center plus a historical movie theater where the popcorn seller knows your name. We sorta like it that way.
I write a blog about living on the island, appropriately titled Whidbey Island Life. Click on to read about the colorful characters and quirky things that make this a special place to live. Then take a look at the slide show. Between my words and pictures, maybe you'll even put Whidbey on your bucket list of places to go.
