The Sugar Land Skeeters rallied from a two-all tie in the ninth inning to score a single run and down Long Island by the score of 3-2 in the second game of their current series against the Ducks on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Constellation Field in the Houston suburb of Sugar Land, Texas.

The first five innings were fairly uneventful; with both teams getting hits but neither team able to capitalize and get anyone home.

Single runs by both teams in the sixth inning and a single run by Long Island in the seventh gave them a 2-1 lead late in the game.

The Skeeters erased the lead with a run in the eighth, tying the score and gave the impression of the game going to extra innings.

With the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning, Skeeters left fielder Ryan Langerhans connected with a bases-loaded single to score catcher Koby Clemens from third base for the win.

But the action on the field was not the only event going on at Constellation Field on this Saturday of Memorial Day weekend.

Children were playing on the inflatable behind the first base seats and riding the carrousel behind left-center field.

The first evening of the Skeeters’ annual barbecue cook-off was going on behind the center field area with fans voting for their favorites after the conclusion of the game.

The cook-off is scheduled to continue on Sunday morning at 10 a.m. with judging by the experts and cold beer and a DJ to entertain the fans prior to the game.

The Skeeters and Ducks will face off again on Sunday at 2:05 p.m. CDT for game three, with the final game of the series occurring on Monday, May 26, 2014 with a 2:05 p.m. CDT first pitch.
