Lane MacDermid will play for Boston Bruins tonight

After the Boston Bruins' morning skate concluded on Jan. 31, coach Claude Julien told the media that he plans to use Lane MacDermid in the lineup tonight against the Buffalo Sabres.

MacDermid will join the fourth line and Daniel Paille will move up to the third line temporarily. Chris Bourque, who would normally be on the third line himself, will be a healthy scratch.

This decision is motivated, Julien said, partly by a desire to make sure that healthy scratches like MacDermid don't sit out too long and miss out on too much game action. The other part is the fact that he feels Bourque has been putting too much pressure on himself and just needs to take a break so that he can come back and be more efficient.

But part of it might be the fact that MacDermid isn't afraid to drop the gloves. In his first shift of his very first NHL game last March, he fought with Mike Rupp and took him down to the ice. It's not certain that he will get in a fight tonight, of course, but if the moment is right, he would most likely take advantage of it.
