The Landstown Eagles (17-4) won their eighth straight game with a big road win at Tallwood last night, 50-47. A nearly sold-out and raucous crowd saw both teams play a nervous and sloppy first quarter which ended in a 10-10 standoff.
The Eagles went on a 9-0 run in the second quarter and entered the halftime break with a 27-17 behind the strong play of 6’8” center Darius Bolstad’s 13 points.
Landstown continued the momentum into the 3rd quarter behind Bolstad who finished with 25 points and timely buckets by Roderick Nicholson (12 points) and led 36-23 with 2:17 remaining in the penultimate quarter.
Tallwood amped up the defense and with Tyler Peterson (Guard) scoring on an array of short jumpers and driving layups, closed the lead to 42-40 at a 3:45 timeout of the fourth. Bolstad put in a layup for a 44-40 advantage and Tyriq Nady hit two clutch free throws for the final 50-47 margin. Peterson lead the Lions (14-7) with 25 points
