Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park invites all who want to learn to paint or anyone who wants to ‘brush up’ on technique to come to the Landscape Oil Painting Weekend, Friday February 24 through Sunday, February 26, 2012.
Bonita Mallory of Eddyville will teach a class demonstrating the on wet-on-wet method of oil painting. During the class, students will create a 16x20 landscape painting of their own. The fee for one painting class (Saturday or Sunday) is $65 per person. For two classes (both Saturday and Sunday), the fee is $120 per person and that fee also includes the Friday night program.
There is a maximum of 15 participants per class. To sign up for a class, more information, or to make reservations at the lodge, call (800) 325-1711.
The ideal location to learn landscape oil painting, Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park is surrounded by perhaps the most beautiful woods in Western Kentucky. Named for the tiny Pennyroyal plant found in the area, the park is the perfect back-to-nature hideaway in the midst of a secluded, lush forest.
Facilities at the park include the 24-room lodge, cottages, 68-site campground plus an additional 15 sites for horse camping, a restaurant, 18-hole golf course, boating, fishing, trails, a pool and a beach, picnic shelters, and much more.
Pennyrile Forest is located in the southwest part of the state and about 150 miles from Metro Louisville via I-65 and the Western Kentucky Parkway. Detailed directions from anywhere can be found at www.maps.google.com.
