Free Agent safety LaRon Landry took a visit to the Indianapolis Colts on the first day of free agency.
Late on the second night, last night, Landry was able to reach a deal with the Colts. His deal with the Colts is for four-years and $24 million dollars.
This deal includes $14 million in guaranteed salary. He got rewarded after taking a gamble to sign a one-year deal with the New York Jets last off-season.
By signing with the Colts, Landry is the final piece of a revamped safety position. The team also added Greg Toler and re-signed Darius Butler.
He is a playmaker that is one of the hardest hitters in the league. He is also stout in the box that adds a presence that was one of the softest in the league last year.
Last season, he played in all 16 games with the Jets, including 15 starts. He had 75 tackles and two interceptions, including one for a touchdown. He also had four forced fumbles.
He resurrected his career with the Jets after after missing 15 games over two seasons in 2010 and 2011. He played in 9 games in 2010 and just 8 games in 2011.
During the 2011 season, he had 1.5 sacks and 35 tackles. He also had forced a fumble and recovered that fumble.
In the 2010 season, he had a sack and 66 tackles. He also had an interception and forced a fumble that he also recovered.
Prior to the 2010 season, he played in a combine 47 games in the first three years of his career. He only missed one game, which was during the 2009 season.
He was a member of the Washington Redskins from 2007 through the 2011 season, before signing with the Jets last off-season.
