Landon Donovan of the Los Angeles Galaxy decision time is getting nearer and nearer. At the end of the MLS season, Donovan announced that he might take a hiatus from the sport of soccer due to fatigue.
Last season, Donovan also won his consecutive MLS title with his club team, the Galaxy, as he also watched English teammate, David Beckham, depart the LA scene.
Landon had won his fifth MLS cup last year as well, three with the Galaxy and two with the San Jose Earthquakes.
SportingNews Soccer reported on their web page on Monday, that the Galaxy still has no idea what their captain has decided.
Coach Bruce Arena was reported to have said that he expects Donovan to make a decision by the next two weeks, since soccer camp begins at the end of January.
It was also reported that most of Donovan’s teammates like Mike Magee and Brazilian midfielder Juninho resigned with the team. Irish striker Robbie Keane is still under contract for another year.
The assumption that most of his major teammates from last year are staying with the Galaxy would keep most fans guessing that Donovan will return.
The Galaxy is also in the works of getting a major midfielder. Frank Lampard, English midfielder from club team Chelsea, is said to be in talks with the Galaxy. This could also encourage Donovan to come back and possibly try to win a third title straight.
Donavan has already opted out with the national team so far, missing the friendly with Canada at the end of January and the World Cup qualifier opener against Honduras in February.
In the end, no word has been heard from Landon Donovan, but many await his decision that could affect the national team and the LA Galaxy.
