As reported on Tuesday morning, Donovan has come to an agreement with the Galaxy on a multiyear deal. Details on the deal has not been reported, as Donovan and Galaxy will address the press on Wednesday regarding the deal.
Landon Donovan has been hot and been scoring galore for both the LA Galaxy and the US Men’s National Team (USMNT).
Donovan helped the USMNT win the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup in July, and he has also helped put the Galaxy in contention to win the MLS Cup this season. If the Galaxy were to win this season, it would be the third straight.
Anyway, it was wise for Donovan to stay in the MLS, especially with the LA Galaxy. In Europe, he would have been signed with a mediocre team in any league, leaving a hard chance to win any trophies or great accomplishments like he has been in the MLS.
If Real Madrid, Chelsea, or Manchester United would have made offers, it would have been a good move for Donovan to go and play for a chance to win a trophy across the pond. However, none of those elite teams from Europe made an offer, at least none reported to the public.
With the Los Angeles Galaxy, Landon Donovan will have another chance to win another trophy and become the player with the most MLS trophies. Currently, he is tied with Jeff Agoos and Brian Mullan at five each.
Also, Landon Donovan only needs four more goals to become the MLS player with the most goals in the league’s history.
