There was sad news on Sept. 5 when customers went to Perly's Restaurant on East Grace Street in downtown Richmond, Virginia and found a sign on the door saying it was closed.
NBC 12 news reported that customers went there for breakfast and lunch only to find that the restaurant was not opened. There was a handwritten note on the door from owner Gray Wyatt that read:
"Perlys has hit a rough patch. I am hoping to sort it out but must close for now."
Richmonders have been enjoying the good food and excellent service for more than 50 years.
The restaurant was a convenient eatery for downtown shoppers.
No one knows whether or not the closing is permanent. According to the note, the owner said he must close "for now." That leads people to believe that the closing is temporary.
There is a apology to the staff and customers on Perly's Facebook page along with a brief explanation that the reason for the closing was because expenses have exceeded revenues. The posting concluded with thanks for support to the restaurant through the years.
