Lance Gross has been cast in a political thriller pilot for NBC. A Deadline report on Tuesday says the television and film actor will star in the untitled drama in which he’ll play a secret service agent named Marcus Finley who is assigned to protect the son of the President. Things go awry for Finley on the first day of the job when the young man is kidnapped along with several of his classmates.
Gross’ star is on the rise in Hollywood. He starred on the long running Tyler Perry comedy “House of Payne” before transitioning to films like 2008’s “Meet the Browns” with Angela Bassett and “Our Family Wedding” from 2010 with America Ferrera and Oscar winner Forest Whitaker.
He most recently starred in the hit 2012 Lifetime television remake “Steel Magnolias” and the Award-winning indie sports film from the same year “The Last Fall” with actress Nicole Beharie.
Gross will be back on the big screen with the Tyler Perry thriller “Temptation” which lands in theaters across the country in late March.
