According to many sources (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/more/news/20130112/lance-armstrong-to-a...doping.ap/), Lance Armstrong is set to admit to doping in an interview with Oprah Winfrey. The interview is scheduled to take place on January 17, 2013, and will be televised.
Lance Armstrong was stripped of his seven Tour de France titles in 2012 after years of suspicions over doping. The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) not only stripped Armstrong of his Tour De France but banned him from future marathon and triathlon competitions as well. Armstrong had run the New York City marathon as well as competed in a few sanctioned triathlons and had expressed interest in competing in the Ironman World Championships.
After years of vehement denials by Armstrong, it is very interesting that he would choose to confess to doping, if in fact he chooses to do so. There are many possible reasons to confess. Since the USADA allegations became public news, Armstrong has had to distance himself from the organization he founded (LiveStrong) and seen his public image suffer. Confessing may be the first step towards returning to the competition circuit for Armstrong and returning to his status as a hero to many.
