Lance Armstrong officially absolved of any doping charges

Today, federal prosecutors closed the investigation that spanned nearly 2 years that Lance Armstrong used performance enhancing drugs (PED's) while a rider on the USPS Tour de France teams.

Spurred on by a former teammates admitting to using PED's (Floyd Landis), former teammates old apartments found containing PED's (Kyle Leogrande), accusations that former teammates witnessed Armstrong taking PED's (Tyler Hamilton) and accusations that former teammates informed federal authorities that Armstrong took and discussed taking PED's (George Hincapie, but he later denied saying anything of that nature to authorities).

Armstrong assembled a large legal team and took the fight back to prosecutors challenging sources and witnesses.

"United States Attorney Andre Birotte Jr. announced in a press release that his office "is closing an investigation into allegations of federal criminal conduct by members and associates of a professional bicycle racing team owned in part by Lance Armstrong."
