Lance Armstrong is back!

He's back.  Arguably the greatest athlete to grace a bicycle is returning to his endurance sports roots.

Lance Armstrong, 7-time Tour de France Winner and cancer survivor, confirmed today on his Twitter account, @juanpelota saying "Looking fwd to my first tri in 20+ yrs. in Ogden, UT. See you all there!"

4-time Xterra World Champion Conrad Stolts followed with, "Cool! Glad you could make it. I bet you're gonna love XTERRA."

Armstrong replied, "Thanks Caveman. Take it easy on me por favor."

The XTERRA USA Championship at Snowbasin Ski Resort in Utah is September 24th and involves a 1 mile swim,  20-mile mountain bike ride and 6-mile trail run.

Coming up on his 40th birthday (9/18/71), Armstrong is no stranger to multisports.  He began his professional career as a triathlete.  At the age of 15, Lance can be seen challenging two future Triathlete Hall of Fame inductees and Ironman World Champions, Mark Allen and Dave Scott. (see video)

Armstrong recently showed up for a swim workout with the Calgary Masters group.

TIMEX Multisport Athlete, Kyle Marcotte  was there and wrote in his blog,  "We did a total of 3,100m, with the main set being 15x100m on 1:40, 25m pool (meaning we started a new 100m every 1:40).  Approximately half of the intervals were to be “fast”, and half were “easy.”  It soon became evident that Lance is quite the swimmer as he was doing his “fast” intervals at approximately 1:02, and his easy intervals on approximately 1:11.  I was fortunate to be swimming in the same lane as Lance, and I can honestly say that everyone brought up their game that day as we were all excited to be swimming with Lance."

Welcome back to multisports, Lance!
