Lance Armstrong: Confession is good for the soul.

Lance Armstrong is in my cross hairs today. I thought he might be a Leo or a Scorpio but he’s actually a Virgo. He was born September 18, 1971 in Plano, Texas. His birth time is unknown so we can’t find out what his ascendant is. But he has interesting aspects in his chart that reveal a great deal. He has the Sun and Pluto in Virgo in conjunction with Venus in Libra, a T-square of the Moon, Mercury, Saturn, Jupiter, Neptune and most importantly a Grand Air Trine of Mars, Saturn and Uranus. The Moon and Mercury are together in Virgo as well.

The Sun Pluto Venus conjunction indicates a person of beauty, passion, glamor, ambition and magnetism. This is what makes him similar to a Scorpio. Because of Pluto and probably his well-aspected Mars he has worked very hard to become a world-class athlete and cyclist. He is a manipulator and tough opponent. In contrast, as a Virgo, he is a gentleman with gracious manners and does good works for others, such as establishing the Livestrong Foundation.

The T-square points to his impoverished and uncertain childhood as well as his bout with cancer. The Moon and Saturn are involved. His father was not a part of his life. As a child he could have fallen into delinquency, crime or drug abuse and remained obscure. Saturn shows a struggle with setbacks and adversity and what else would you call cancer? His recovery was nothing short of a miracle. At that point he had the respect and admiration of the world if he did nothing else in his life except maybe sell bicycles. Squares to Saturn give a person a huge push to overcome handicaps and succeed in life. Many celebrities have adverse Saturn aspects, often rising to great success from poverty, tragedy and obscurity.

Incidentally these Moon Saturn aspects often deny children and sometimes marriage as well. This guy has five children through the miracle of science and at least three significant relationships (one marriage) behind him.

The use of banned performance-enhancing drugs is what happened to him instead of alcohol or street drugs. Temptation to take short cuts got the better of him. This is often what Neptune does. I’ve told you before, Neptune is sneaky. Neptune makes people act sneaky. Neptune rules drugs including the ones that don’t alter reality. You could say that these drugs present an athlete not as he is really is and therefore as an illusion.

The lying, cover-up and denial are Neptune traits. Neptune makes expert liars. Jupiter with Neptune expands these tendencies and adds an element of egomania. Pluto also figures very strongly in the equation. He was controlling, tough, and ruthless when opposed or threatened. As he himself put it during the Oprah interview, he was scary. He believed what he was doing was okay and that he was untouchable.

The Grand Air Trine is what propelled him to fame and fortune, and assured him of opportunities, athletic talent, endorsements, friends and supporters. Remember that a Grand Trine is extremely lucky and brings protection in various forms. This is probably what allowed him to slip under the wires. He denied everything and he did it for a long time. He lashed out at the testimonies against him and even filed and won lawsuits. At first we believed him. He always appeared innocent and above reproach.

Having lost his seven Tour De France titles, an Olympic medal and lucrative endorsements he has finally admitted the truth. It’s possible that he is finally growing up. Or maybe he is planning to use confession to his own advantage. God will know if he is sincerely sorry or not. He should not count on returning to competition. He should try a new tack for a while something in the manner of serving others in private life. He should put the fame and glory behind him since after all they are only illusions. Service to others counts for much more in the greater scheme of things. Mars just made his return in Aquarius. Mars, the timekeeper, means the start of a new two-year cycle for Lance Armstrong. Lucky for him as usual he may have a chance to redeem himself.

I used to think of Virgo as a pure and chaste sign, a model of integrity like the books say. I have had two relationships with Virgos. They were basically nice guys but they had their flaws. I know several Virgo men who have behaved badly. Two Virgo friends of mine are drug addicts. They both have the Sun conjunct Pluto. One of them steals and the other one chases women. Both of them have at sometime lied, misrepresented themselves, kept dark secrets, been arrested and spent time in rehab. I once knew two Virgo men of an older generation who were not really dishonest but they were troubled alcoholics. This goes to show how no zodiac sign is perfect. A person has the free will to misbehave but he is also subject to the law of karma, the law of grace and the whim of the planets. From these things a person grows and evolves.
