Despite his contract being terminated with Nike due to the doping allegations, Lance Armstrong might be returning to Nike. TMZ reported on Jan. 16 that the Nike CEO, Phil Knight, said they might take the disgraced cyclist back.
“Never say never,” Phil Knight replied when asked if Lance Armstrong and Nike “might patch things up.”
Lance Armstrong was dropped by Nike last October. It was due to the “insurmountable evidence” that Lance Armstrong used performance enhancing drugs and lied about using them for over 10 years. Now that Lance Armstrong has “come clean” with Oprah Winfrey, it is possible that Lance Armstrong could be working with Nike again.
“If they take Lance Armstrong back, I'll never buy another Nike product again,” Chuck Christian, from Oklahoma City, said. “Although few things in life are unforgivable, I don't want to do business with a company that works with Lance Armstrong. Using the drugs was bad, but to lie about about for all these years – that is poor character.”
At the time of publication, it was unknown if Nike will offer Lance Armstrong another contract. It was also unknown if Lance Armstrong would even be interested in such an offer.
