First Friday always seems to be a magical time in Lancaster. Between the art galleries and the cafes, and the shopping and seeing friends, there is never enough time to take everything in. This month the weather kept many home so many businesses, galleries, and cafes have decided a re-do was in order! From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., enjoy the Holiday First Friday Redux.
While walking around the City, be sure to check out one of Santa’s Workshop! BUiLDiNG CHARACTER has transformed the Heritage Press Museum, in the 300 block of Queen Street, into the North Pole Print Shop. Tonight Hip Santa will also be on hand today from noon to 5 p.m.
The Liz Hess Gallery will be featuring a Scandinavian Christmas. Many of the Scandinavian Christmas paintings feature gnomes. Paintings from her earlier collections, including the beautifully done Lancaster City collection, will also be available tonight.
Within Tellus360 is Gallery360. The Gallery will feature a juried landscape show this Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The show is a mixed media collection. Tellus360 is located at 24 East King Street.
Christiane David Gallery has expanded to offer Christiane David Interiors. Enjoy her vibrant artwork in a different setting, such as throw pillows. Christiane David Interiors also offers shower curtains, mugs, coasters, and more. The Gallery is located at 112 North Prince Street.
The Demuth Museum will feature over 100 pieces from its Art in a Box program. This program teaches the students about Charles Demuth’s art and life in general here in Lancaster. The exhibit will continue to run through 29 December. The museum hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays. Admission will be by donation. The museum is located at 120 E King Street.
The Annex 24 Gallery continues its 6th Annual Winter Exposition. The gallery, located at 24 West Walnut Street, offers not only paintings but also note cards, jewelry, soaps, wearable textiles and … elf doors. That’s right little doors for Santa’s elves to be able pop in are available in various colors.
Franz Fox Studios and Gallery will be open today from noon until 9 p.m. The featured artist is McCaskey art teacher Kassie. She will be displaying paintings and her sculptures. The gallery is located at 136 North Prince Street.
The Lancaster Camera Club can often be found about town taking random photos. Friday they will at the Mulberry Art Studios, or at least their work will. Exceptional Photography is the name of the exhibit, which will feature photography of the Club. The studio is located at 19-21 North Mulberry Street.
Food & Drink
Café One Eight will be open until 9 p.m. today. The café is located at 18 West Orange Street.
Have you tried peppermint ice cream? This unique blend has red and green candy cane pieces in it and it available tonight – along with many other flavors – at Carmen & David’s Creamery. The Creamery, which opens at noon today, is located at 25 North Prince Street.
Walking around the City in December can make anyone cold. Warm up at Commonwealth on Queen with hot mulled spiced apple cider and cranberry spiced apple cider, as well as many other goodies! Commonwealth on Queen is located at 301 North Queen Street.
The Prince Street Café is open 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. today. Enjoy fresh muffins and pastries, soufflés, sandwiches and wraps, and soups as well as the large selection of coffees, teas and other drinks. The Café is located at 15 North Prince Street.
The BohoZone will also take part in the festivities tonight. This music gallery is located at 144 North Prince Street.
