Lancaster will promote awareness of juvenile diabetes on an event filled Sunday coming up in June. The day – Sunday, 2 June 2013 – will begin with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s (JDRF) Lancaster Walk to Cure Diabetes that afternoon. That evening the Lancaster Barnstormers – Lancaster’s own minor league baseball team – will host a Juvenile Diabetes Awareness Night.
The JDRF walk is a great way to show your support for all those living with type 1 diabetes (T1D) and to raise funds for JDRF, which is the leading global organization focused on T1D research. The goal for the Lancaster walk is $86,000 this year and is one of several statewide.
The Lancaster Walk to Cure Diabetes will be held at the Clipper Magazine Stadium. Registration will start at 2:30 p.m. The two mile walk is slated for a 4 p.m. step off and is expected to run until 5 p.m.
The Barnstormers will host the Bridgeport Bluefish that evening at Clipper Magazine Stadium. The game is scheduled for 6 p.m.
The Lancaster Barnstormers are the defending Freedom Division Champion. The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation are not the only non-profit organization which benefits from the Barnstormers. The first Sunday home date, 21 April, will be set up for Relay for Life.

Parents and children can once again play catch on Lancaster’s own Field of Dreams prior to the game while autographs with select players will also be available.
