Muddy Run is a large park in Holtwood, Lancaster County which contains both a reservoir and a main lake. The reservoir, as of November 19, 2009, has been closed to public fishing; however, the lake remains open. There is a boat launch available to the public for a small fee and a trail that follows the shore around the entire lake for shore anglers. Boat rentals are also available. The lake is home to a great variety of fish including largemouth bass, bluegill, catfish, rainbow trout and carp. Bass are mainly taken in the small cove straight across from the boat launch and in the shallow flats at the north-most point of the lake. Trout can be caught at the far south end of the lake nearest the reservoir. The water here is deep and contains a rocky bottom that attracts the trout and holds them in this area. Bluegill and other panfish are found along the shores of the entire lake. The boat dock opens at 7am from April to October.
