Winter has finally arrived in Lancaster. Hercules is pulling out of the area but not before leaving six inches of snow in many places around the City. The winds will continue through the day, making today a frigid day. Currently (5 a.m.) the School District of Lancaster has a two hour delay due to the weather.
The school district is not the only delay! Lancaster Catholic High School is also on a two hour delay. The Prince Street Café, located at 15 North Prince Street, will open an hour late, at 7:30 a.m. today. The County Courthouse and offices are also operating on a two hour delay today. The Lancaster City Housing Authority will open at 10 a.m. The Lancaster County Office of Aging Senior Centers and the Meals on Wheels program in the City are closed today. The Lancaster Public Library will open at 11 a.m. today. The Lancaster Science Factory will open at noon today. Amtrak is currently running on schedule from Lancaster to Philadelphia. To check the status of your train, readers should go to http://www.amtrak.com/home. Click on the Status button and type in your train information.
The National Weather Service (NWS) is predicting blowing snow and snow showers this morning. Wind gusts could be as high today as 36 mph. Blowing snow will be an issue today.
It won’t get warmer any time soon. If you are planning to brave the winds and the cold tonight for First Friday, please do bundle up.
Tellus 360 will open up Gallery360 with a Juried Landscape Show tonight. The Gallery360 is located on the second floor of Tellus360, located at 24 East King Street. Stay afterwards to hear Second Hand Suits perform.
The Lancaster Young Professionals will hold their First Friday Happy Hour at Roaring Brook Market at 5:30 p.m. The Market is located at 155 East King Street. Artist Justin Jones will be at the Market tonight from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. as well.
A new exhibit titled, “Adoring You,” will be seen at the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen tonight through 1 March. Featuring works of love and desire, of passion, and of appreciation for loved ones, the Gallery, located at 335 North Queen Street, is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday noon to 4 p.m.
