Lancaster City Morning Buzz: Music Friday

Tonight Lancaster merchants will stay open late, combining Music Friday and First Friday Redux. During the day, head Downtown early and get in that last minute shopping. The Lancaster Parking Authority is sponsoring free two how metered parking from 17 to 24 December.

Friday is Music Friday in the City! Various artists and bands of various genres will perform at venues throughout Lancaster. Performances generally begin at 6 p.m. Tonight’s featured concert is Music For Everyone (MFE) Lancaster Community Chorus. Join MFE for a concert, followed by a holiday-sing-a-long in the lobby of the Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square. The performance is slated to begin at 7 p.m. The group consists of over 80 members.

A Quintessentially Brass Concert will be held this evening from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the First Reformed Church United Church of Christ. The Church is located at 40 East Orange Street.

Mike McMonagle will perform from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Penn Square Grill, at the Lancaster Marriott on 2 East King Street. McMonagle is a folks/roots musician from Lancaster. You can preview some of his music at Reverbnation.

The Main Street Mystics will perform at the Roaring Brook Market tonight. The Market is located at 155 East King Street. They will perform from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Younger Me is slated to perform at 8 p.m. at Tellus360. The indie rock/pop band members are from Lancaster and York. This unique store/bar/concert venue is located at 24 East King Street.

The James Trostle Trio will perform from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Belvedere Inn, 402 North Queen Street.

DJ Paul will provide dance music and some hip hop at the Village Nightclub’s Friday Night Dance Party this evening. The Village is located at , 205 North Christian Street. Cover charge is $2 with a college id.

In addition to the Music Friday events, Black Cat will perform at the Federal Taphouse, 201 North Queen Street tonight.

Obviously in a City the size and diverse as Lancaster is, this is only a small sampling of venues. Grab your best walking shoes and a coat – no snow today but it is still cold – and take your time with your Christmas shopping.
