Lancaster City Morning Buzz: Freeze warning in effect

There may be some slick spots if you head out early this morning. A Freeze Warning remains in effect until 8 a.m. The National Weather Service (NWS) has also issued a Freeze Watch in effect for late tonight until tomorrow morning, as temperatures drop down below freezing again tonight. Be sure to bring in potted flowers and cover your young plants or planted flowers.

Celebrate National Poetry Month at the Lancaster Public Library today. The Library will hold a Book Spine Poetry Contest today. There will be three times: 10:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Enjoy the sounds of the Symphonic Strings and Chamber Ensemble tonight. The performance will be at 7 p.m. at the Trust Performing Arts Center, 37 North Prince Street.

An Amber Alert was issued last night after a mother took her 20 month old child from their home in Shillington, Berks County. The two were found safe and unharmed in Lancaster. The mother had left a suicide note. The Amber Alert was cancelled once the two were in custody.

Lancaster Public Works is continuing the flushing of the water distribution system. The flushing will be done from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. through 30 May. If your water appears cloudy, let it run for a moment. If the problem continues, call the Water Quality Lab at 717-291-4818.

Stop by Tellus360 this evening as DJ Sallinger leads Wirelessless Wednesday, beginning at 10:30 p.m. Earlier, at 8 p.m., WXPN welcomes David Wax Museum with Dietrich Strause at Tellus360. The cover charge is $13. The pub is located at 24 East King Street.

Each Wednesday the Mulberry Art Studio holds an Artist Open Studio. Artists (18+) may draw, sketch or paint a live nude model. Artists should bring their own art supplies. Chairs and tables will be provided. The instructor is fine oil painter and graphic designer Beth Bathe. The Studio is located at 19-21 North Mulberry Street.

The Fulton Theatre will present Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story next week! The official opening night performance is Thursday, 24 April at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday will be the Fig Preview Night and Tuesday is the “pay what you will night”.
