Lancastrians know Lancaster is a small but exciting city. Now so does the rest of the world. The Real estate website Movoto published “The 10 Most Exciting Small Cities in America” and named Lancaster City as America's fourth most exciting small city!
Lancaster has a growing art and music scene with an active nightlife. The City also is home to some great architectural delights. One comment on Movoto’s site is “The city has a truly fantastic art scene and lots of great restaurants, not to mention stunning 19th and early 20th century architecture.” Others simply expressed agreement.
Small cities were determined to be those with approximate populations between 50,000 and 60,000 residents. Cities were chosen based on nightclub life, live music, parks and the active life, fast food options, and the number of younger residents. The nightclub life is measured by the nightclubs per capita. This includes bars and clubs. The active life options include parks and outdoor activities. The fewer fast food restaurants equated to the better score. Despite the number of cafes and small restaurants in the City, there are few fast food restaurants. The list considers young people to be those between the ages of 20 to 34. The larger the population in that bracket equates to the better score.
Movoto Real Estate is a real estate brokerage firm. Upon clicking on the Lancaster link, however, the site lists several properties for sale currently. Of the 31 listings, only six are actually in the City.
