Lancaster has become quite the haven for artists and this weekend it will become a mini-Paris as area artists and photographers are celebrated during the Fall ArtWalk. The ArtWalk runs Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday noon to 4 p.m. As you are enjoying the various artists, share your thoughts on social media using the hashtag #lancartwalk or #lancphotowalk.
Liz Hess, of Liz Hess Gallery, has long entranced people with her Red Umbrella series. This weekend she will unveil her new works which will focus on Lancaster itself. The theme of her new collection is appropriately titled “Our City.”
Meet local photographer Joe Hostler at the Lancaster County Community Foundation's Community Gallery, 24 W. King Street, Suite 201, during First Friday. Hostler’s work will be showcased in an exhibit named "Lancaster & Beyond". Light Refreshments will be served Friday, 4 October from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The little ones will once again enjoy the Tiny Tots Pumpkin Painting at the Annex 24 Gallery & Shoppe. The Gallery is located at 24 West Walnut Street.
The Lancaster Creative Factory (LCF) encourages you to leave your mark. ArtWalk visitors will be invited to partake in free spontaneous creativity. Supplies and materials will be provided at the Lancaster Parking Authority, North East corner of the public parking garage at Orange and Prince Street.
Jess Carpenter returns to the Ware Center to bring a night of stand up comedians Friday at 7:30 p.m. The cost is $25 for adults. The performance welcomes adults aged 21 and over. Sunday at 4 p.m. the Allegretto Youth Orchestra will perform. Thickets are $10 for adults and $5 for seniors. Children age five to 16 are free.
Art Harrington and Steve Wilson are the featured artists this month at the Red Raven Art Company. Harrington, originally from Williamsport, is a retired art teacher at Solanco High School in Southern Lancaster County. Wilson is originally from neighboring Chester County and is a past president of the Lancaster County Art Association. His watercolor paintings bring to life various country themes.
On Sunday, the Lancaster Museum of Art will feature Tasteful Crafting, a long running Artful Dining Series. Participating vendors include: J-9 Jewelry Design by Janine Reed; J. Almodovar; Lillian Jackson Textiles, Handmade by Kanga; Mio Studios; Melo Studi; Moxie House Paper Goods; Nate Nixdorf Pottery; Betsy Olmsted; Pancakes for Breakfast; Gillian Pokalo Printmaking; and Sheila Shay Photography. Reserve your ticket by calling the museum at 717-394-3497. Your $12 ticket includes food, drink, beer, and wine. The Museum is located at 135 North Line Street.
