Indie pop singer Lana Del Rey announced the name of her new album in Hollywood on Wednesday night. During the screening of her short film "Tropico," she said her next album will be called "Ultraviolence."
Pop music blog MuuMuse reports that Del Rey gave fans the news of "Ultraviolence" before premiering "Tropico." At the front of theater, said said, "I really just wanted us all to be together so I could try and visually close out my chapter before I release the new record 'Ultraviolence.'" Roaring fan excitement ensues immediately after the announcement (video of the moment also at MuuMuse).
Aside from the album announcement there are no further details about the release yet. It will follow Del Rey's major label debut "Born to Die," which was released in January 2012 and peaked at no. 2 on Billboard. The record later spawned the "Paradise" EP with songs like "Ride" and "Body Electric."
Fans were able to catch "Tropico" tonight in Hollywood but Del Rey will release the full short film tomorrow, Dec. 5, on VEVO.
