It's a big story: NBA star and reality show personality Lamar Odom has gone missing. The media is burning up the airwaves, cable, and Internet speculating as to the man's whereabouts and what he might be doing. And with all the guesswork concerning drugs and a possible separation from his wife, Khloe Kardashian, there doesn't seem to be anyone guessing that Odom just might be in the one place almost all celebrities go when they need a break from it all -- rehab.
Access Hollywood reported (via Yahoo News) Aug. 26 that although there are numerous outlets reporting that Lamar Odom is missing, it would appear that he actually is not. The outlet noted that one of their sources had told them so.
TMZ corroborates. They reported on Sunday that a rep for Odom told them that he wasn't missing at all. However, the rep refused to disclose any other information.
Odom's being missing gained traction over the weekend as outlets like TMZ noted that he hadn't been heard from in a couple of days. Unnamed sources reportedly told the gossip website that Odom had been kicked out by Khloe Kardashian on Wednesday. Other unnamed sources said that family and friends feared the worst, that the big guy had gone on a self-destructive drug binge.
TMZ reported Monday that their sources were telling them that Kardashian and Odom had separated.
All of the rumormongering did provoke a named response. Khloe Kardashian herself took to Twitter to rant a bit about what was being said.
"Really hard to sit here and listen to people talk s*** about my family!" she tweeted. "F*** you and shame on you! I'm too protective for this s***!"
But is Lamar Odom actually missing? Usually when celebrities drop out of sight, the next piece of news that comes from them is usually a generated statement of how they are about to enter, are already enrolled, or are exiting rehab. And it isn't as if Odom hasn't had his problems with drugs before. In fact, he reportedly entered rehab last year but failed to remain for the entire treatment.
Still, Odom has a couple of reasons to consider rehab, above the most obvious one. He just might want to save his marriage to Khloe Kardashian. And then there is his NBA career, which has been in hiatus since he became a free agent at the end of the 2013 basketball season (when he was let go by the Los Angeles Clippers).
Still, the only one that actually knows what Lamar Odom is doing is Odom himself. And thus far, he's not talking...
