The NBA may no longer want Lamar Odom playing for them, but that didn’t stop the 6-foot-10 forward from pursuing what he loves. Instead of sitting on the sidelines, Lamar landed a two-month contract with Spanish basketball team, Laboral Kutxa. According to Us Weekly, Lamar is in Spain getting ready for the big game.
Even though Lamar signed for two months, he has the option to extend that contract to the end of the season. Lamar tried to get back in with the NBA in the US, but his past killed his chances, at least for now. Lamar allegedly has had problems with drinking. The police have pulled him over for a DUI. In December 2013, he pled no contest. He was sentenced to serve 36 months' probation, attend three months of alcohol counseling and pay a total of $1,814 in fines and fees for the DUI charge. He allegedly has an addiction to crack cocaine that he is struggles against.
On Feb. 20, 2014, Lamar went through a battery of physical tests to make sure he is in shape to play. Speculation is that Lamar might play in Sunday’s game.
The president of Laboral Kutxa, Josean Querejeta, stated, “We're very happy to have signed a very important player who has had a long and fruitful career in the NBA. We've worked very hard over the last couple of days to make this happen. We felt we needed a boost and had to break the collective cloud that has been hanging over us over the last while so we could get back to winning."
Lamar wants to prove that he is changing his lifestyle. He just wants to play basketball and reconcile with his wife Khloe Kardashian. She had filed for divorce, but when Lamar left the states, he was wearing his wedding band. He hopes that their marriage can be saved, because he still loves Khloe.
