Lamar Odom has reportedly hired O.J. Simpson's former dream team lawyer Robert Shapiro to help him out with his DUI arrest. Lamar was busted Friday morning in Van Nuys, and apparently needs some big guns firepower to get him out of this latest legal scrape, according to TMZ on Monday, Sept. 2. Sources say since Shapiro is known for his plea deals, that's likely the route Lamar Odom will take with this case as he hopes to avoid going to jail.
Since Robert Shapiro has a reputation for plea bargaining, that's what sources expect he'll do for the 33-year-old NBA star. Lamar Odom probably will end up pleading no contest to just one count of DUI, resulting in a straight probation sentence.
Additionally, he'll likely also be required to attend an alcohol education class. One thing Shapiro won't get around is Lamar's license being revoked for one year, since Odom refused the blood-alcohol test.
Lamar was arrested Friday when cops noticed him driving erratically on the 101 Freeway at too slow a speed. He failed field sobriety tests, and then refused chemical tests. Cops suspect he was under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Click here to read more details about what went down when he was busted.
Lamar picking Shapiro to represent him probably isn't just drawing a big-name lawyer out of a hat. If you recall, Robert Shapiro represented O.J. Simpson in his double homicide trial alongside Khloe Kardashian's late father Robert Kardashian.
Sources speculate Kris Jenner had a hand in hiring Shapiro as well, as she's hired the high-powered attorney to help with Kardashian clan's legal messes in the past.
