Never the soundtrack label to fail in their announcements of late and are making a major case that their label will be one to be wreckoned with this year, LaLaLand blows the pixie dust and gleefully has announced a major coup for their release schedule this spring.
A little over 20 years ago, Sony went full steam ahead for their latest live action retelling of Peter Pan. Originally conceived as a musical, Director Steven Spielberg went ahead with a more adult, yet children oriented film now called Hook. Originally Kevin Kline was supposed to star as Peter Banning aka. The Pan and Robin Williams (taking over the part at the last minute) who's now a workaholic lawyer/dad in the real world complete with a wife (Caroline Goodall) and two young children. When the devious, Captain Hook (Dustin Hoffman) kidnaps Peter's children, he makes a return to Neverland where with the help of Tinkerbell (Julia Roberts) and the Lost Boys, rediscovers his youthful self that was once Peter Pan in order to rescue his children.
John Williams who had started writing the musical numbers for the film when it was originally intended to be a musical as far back as 1985, comes up with one of his more charming and exhilarating scores in his carrer working with Steven Spielberg. Epic/Sony Soundtrax released a solid 75 minute album at the time of the films' release December 11, 1991,meticulously put together by Williams and an album that been endearing his fans ever since. This long in demand for an expanded release for some twenty-years has been in the works for sometime now and on March 27th will be the date that Williams' and fans of the film will have a chance to savior this much anticipated release.
So head on over to LaLaLand's website on March 27th, at 4pm here on the east coast and 1pm over on the left to place your order http://www.lalalandrecords.com for the soundtrack which has a $29.99 price tag.
