At least six people have been arrested for assisting Maurice Clemmons after he killed four Lakewood, Washington police officers Sunday. Among those arrested were Clemmons's alleged half-brother Rickey Hinton, 47, Douglas Davis, 22, and Davis's brother Eddie Davis, 20.
According to The Seattle Times, the Davis brothers have been charged with "rendering criminal assistance for allegedly helping Clemmons evade capture during the nearly two days he was on the run." Court documents indicated that Clemmons told the men that he planned on killing police officers and that they should watch for it on the news.
The following morning, Clemmons entered a coffee shop in Parkland, Washington and killed Lakewood police Sgt. Mark Renninger, 39, and officers Ronald Owens, 37, Tina Griswold, 40, and Gregory Richards, 42.
According to court documents, "the Pierce County Medical Examiner's Office..has conducted examination of the bodies and has determined that Officer Richards died of a gunshot wound to the head, Officer Owens died of a gunshot wound to the neck, Officer Griswold died of a gunshot wound to the head, and Officer Renninger died of a gunshot wound to the head."
According to The Seattle Times, Hinton "has not been charged yet, but has been booked into jail for investigation of rendering criminal assistance." His bail has been set at $2 million.
Court documents indicate Clemmons borrowed Hinton's white Ford pickup truck Saturday. Eyewitness accounts from two employees of the coffee shop indicated that they saw Clemmons walk over to the truck and get into the passenger side of the vehicle. They also stated they saw another African-American male in the driver's seat who drove off with Clemmons inside.
The alleged driver of the getaway vehicle, Darcus D. Allen, has also been arrested. Allen was friends with Clemmons while both men were in an Arkansas prison. Allen was sentenced to 25 years for a 1990 double murder at a Little Rock liquor store. He was paroled in 2004. A prison spokesperson stated that Clemmons and Allen were not cell mates, however, they shared the same barracks along with 50-100 other inmates.
Authorities expect to charge Allen with rendering criminal assistance on Wednesday.
A bloody Clemmons showed up at the house shared by Hinton and the Davis brothers. Hinton told police he tossed a set of car keys to one of the Davis brothers and told him to take Clemmons away. He also asked his son (or grandson) to delete any phone numbers from his cell phone that may be related to Clemmons.
The Davis brothers told detectives they drove Clemmons away from their residence. While in the vehicle, Clemmons confessed that he had murdered the police officers and had "taken care of business." They also admitted that the night before the murders, Clemmons had shown them two handguns and said he was going to kill some cops. The Davis brothers claim they drove Clemmons to a female relative's home.
Several other unnamed people are listed in the court documents as assisting Clemmons in the aftermath of the murders. One woman, a female relative of Clemmons, claimed she picked Clemmons up in a Seattle parking lot and took him to her home where she dressed his gunshot wound with cotton balls and duct tape. Douglas Davis admitted he helped her clean Clemmons up.
After Clemmons was taken care of he allegedly got into a car with his female relative who drove him to the Auburn Super Mall, followed by the Davis brothers in a separate vehicle. Clemmons was then transported to another vehicle and driven away by another unnamed female, followed by the other two cars.
According to KING5-TV, the two woman arrested are Letrecia Nelson, Clemmons's aunt, and Quiana Williams, a friend of Clemmons.
Other residents in Seattle were more reluctant to help the fugitive. After having been contacted by Clemmons, who requested they allow him to hide out in their home, the residents agreed but then drove to a police precinct to report Clemmons.
Douglas and Eddie Davis appeared in court Tuesday to answer to the charges. Both pleaded not guilty and had their bails set at $700,000 for Eddie Davis and $500,000 for Douglas Davis.
Hinton has not been officially charged, however, his bail was set at $2 million. Pierce County sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer said Hinton may have played "a larger role" in the murders.
Clemmons was shot and killed Monday morning by Seattle patrolman Benjamin L. Kelly.

The best part about this article: "Clemmons was shot and killed Monday morning by Seattle patrolman Benjamin L. Kelly."
The best part of the article is missing from the article. Stop believing everything you read! That's what's wrong with us now, were like sheep being led to slaughter. Where is the information on the dead cops?? Their service records?? Instead of shaking bushes to put everyone in jail that knows this man, try looking into what these four dead cops were into. Not a word about them anywhere. Maybe they beat the hell out of him and his children...We don't know, but we do know that cops do that crap all of the time. So, before it's 'Hand's across America' for these cops, let's try researching something before we light the torches and set the crosses on fire.
Jody-jo needs mental help. Typical scum bag.
Hey Jody-jo....you're a dog. You must look just like your mother.
To Jody-jo, there were several words about the four cops and the turd that killed them. Did you get a speeding ticket once ?? Wake up you jerk. Maybe your mommy didn't hug you enough.
Jody-jo, regardless of what these cops "did or didn't" do to this man have nothing to do with the case. Killing peace officers is unacceptable. You must be one of those people that HATES cops and think that there ***holes. Well, why don't you do their job for a day. I don't see you risking your life and dealing with people that hate you all the time or threaten to kill you when they get out of prison. Get a life and show some respect.
WOW....this jody jo ja jesse james sounds like a real patriot, it's people like this who makes society what it is, a toilet. Read his entry, what a degenerate. He favors a child rapist cop killer COWARD over four young police officers. Some day you'll get yours bone head.
I hate this happened to the four slain officers as well as the culprit what a tragedy, but how does a man deemed a generous person turn to a cold blooded murder. Did the four officers that lost there lives do some kind of injustice to Mr. Clemmons. Did the officer that killed Mr. Clemons have no other choice, but to kill him are was this a form of retaliation.
I have to say that choosing to name your children things like Letrecia and Quaiana and Darcus is just ridiculous, and it seems to limit their options in life.
You see Polly these are "proud" ethnic names. SSSSHHHHHHHH....don't say anything negative, you might be called a racist and get fired from your job. We can't say anything like "if it was a white guy and four black police officers it would be a hate crime, no... we can't say that. We have to just smile and pretend that we don't smell it, just like this politically correct society demands. That being said...Polly, you're absolutely right.
I kind of like how nobody seems to care whether the circumstances required that Clemmons be shot and killed. I have family on the force and they are some of the best, caring people I know. People like Clemmons are an infection.
You don't kill Cops bottem line. I am 3 hours north of you guys and s*** like this rarely happens in Canada. I used to live in New Westminster, a police officer was shot in the leg. Big man hunt and in the end the shooter was guned down dead by the Police. Even though the shooter may have given up his weapon and was unlawfully shot dead, there is an unwritten law that gives cops a right to shoot to kill copkillers. Prisons, courts are all a waiste of money. Electric chairs,Gas Chambers hanging is brutal and a waiste. All this bullsh can be solved with a 97cent bullet to the head,
Criminal Justic system in AMERIKKKA IS SCREWED, remember the Atl Bomb killer who was found in the Carolinas, in a small community of WHITES, who had to have: 1. known the killer, 2. Aided the killer, 3. provided a safe haven.....my point why were these aiders and abetters, not arrested? Hmnnnnnnnnn, U tell me!
Got something to say?
