Racers, please start your engines and hold on to your seats ladies and gentleman, Lakewood’s Thundey Valley MX will be host to 2010’s Toyota Trucks Motocross National for the 2nd year in a row. Scheduled as the 5th round of 12 stops on the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Race tour, Thunder Valley’s race will be the only event on the tour held under the lights at night. 2008 marked the first year this kind of outdoor competition was ever held after sunset and added another edge to an already challenging track. Thunder Valley is a one of kind a raceway, carved into the mountainside at 6,100 ft and features a unique combination of jumps, turns and whoops. Combined with the thin, mountain air it is a challenge to both a rider’s fitness and the machine’s performance. While special lighting is brought in to illuminate the track, navigating lines through the course gets tough in the shadows.

The Lucas Oil tour features the best of the best. It showcases the fastest riders, the 12 toughest tracks in the country and the best bikes a factory can possibly manufacture. Each event consists of 3 classes including the 450 class, the 250 class, and more competitive and faster than ever, the women’s WMX class. There are 2 “moto’s” for each class, each moto being 30 minutes plus 2 laps long. Riders must be at their peak fitness level for this kind of fast-paced competition. A returning feature of such unbridled athleticism is mainstream media coverage of all events on both SPEED TV and NBC Sports as well as live web streaming on Alli Sports.

The first leg of this tour kicks off at the Hangtown Motocross Classic in Rancho Cordova, CA May 22, 2010. Prepare for Colorado’s stop on Saturday, June 26th. Tickets for each event on the tour can be found here.
