The Los Angeles Lakers have finally decided to part ways with 2010 second-round NBA draft pick (58th overall) Derrick Caracter after waiving the forward on Monday. With Caracter struggling to stay healthy in his first two NBA seasons with the Lakers and spending more time with the Bakersfield Jam and the Los Angeles D-Fenders.
Back on January 25, 2011, Derrick Caracter had played his last game for the Los Angeles Lakers with the team sending him down to the NBA Development League’s Los Angeles D-Fenders after getting healthy enough to get back on the basketball floor. Caracter has put up some pretty solid numbers with the D-Fenders in just four games by averaging 15.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.
Now that Derrick Caracter has been waived the Lakers current roster is down to 14 players. With that being said, there is one open spot in which the team can sign a free agent. That opens the door for the Lakers to sign one of the following free agents like Gilbert Arenas, Rasheed Wallace and J.R. Smith.
