Lakers trade rumors: Steve Blake trade to Golden State Warriors complete

Lakers trade rumors have the team dealing Steve Blake to the Golden State Warriors. These Lakers trade rumors have the team acquiring guards Kent Bazemore and MarShon Brooks. According to a report from CBS on Wednesday (Feb. 19), Blake could be looking at some significant minutes off the bench for the Warriors. That immediately makes him a sneaky player to nab in fantasy basketball leagues.

This is a flat-out salary dump by Los Angeles, with the team saving about $3.5 million on their luxury tax bill due to the deal. The Warriors didn't even have to give up a player seeing significant minutes to get a good veteran backup point guard. He will now be in charge of the second unit and could allow Stephen Curry to take longer rests as the second half really gets under way.

Up to this point in the season, Steve Blake is averaging 9.5 points and 7.6 assists per game. He was seeing increased minutes due to the lack of depth in Los Angeles, but this deal is going to leave the team in a bit of trouble moving forward. Look for Kendall Marshall to get even more minutes. There are other Lakers trade rumors out there that include shipping out Pau Gasol and that might help the team shed even more salary to play for the 2014 NBA Draft.
