Lakers trade rumors about Pau Gasol have been floating around for a while. The latest LA Lakers trade rumors indicate a change of strategy for the team, though, as it appears the front office wants to keep Gasol after all. A report from Wednesday evening by ESPN (Dec. 18) indicates that the team is going to stop shopping him around the league.
It looks like the play from the big man over his past three games has given the team encouragement about holding on to him. Two wins in three games and averages of 17.3 points and 8.7 rebounds in that time didn't hurt either. It has helped him improve on some rough numbers to start the season and has really helped point the team in the right direction.
While there are other Lakers trade rumors about acquiring a player like Tyson Chandler or Iman Shumpert, it really looks like the team is content to continue putting Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol on the court as the leaders of the team. What had appeared like a rough situation between Gasol and coach Mike D'Antoni will have to be worked out.
Coming into Wednesday night, the Lakers hold a 12-13 record that is good for 10th place in the Western Conference standings.
