Lakers trade rumors were addressed by Pau Gasol himself this week. The latest LA Lakers trade rumors were reported on in an article by ESPN on Wednesday (Jan. 8). It seems that Gasol thought he was already dealt over the weekend when he started getting questions about it on Saturday (Jan. 4) when he was enjoying a night out at "The Lion King" in Hollywood.
The former All-Star power forward stated, "I checked my Twitter at intermission and I see that it's almost official. I was getting all these messages, 'Farewell, Pau. Thanks for all your services,' all that stuff. It was a really good musical. I enjoyed it. I brought my parents and my little brother. It was a nice family time. But that kind of affected a little bit, the rest of the show."
As is known now, it was the Chicago Bulls that acquired Andrew Bynum from the Cleveland Cavaliers, leaving Los Angeles out of the huge transaction. It was a deal that made sense for both franchises and it will likely benefit the Cavs quite a bit for the rest of this season and the Bulls in the near future.
Even Pau Gasol admitted that the LA Lakers trade rumors aren't going to stop here and that his name is going to come up often before the February deadline to make a deal. At 14-21 the team isn't exactly out of contention, but it is getting there as the team falls further out of the playoff race in the Western Conference. It could lead to the team completely breaking down the roster, especially if Kobe Bryant has his return delayed further.
