The trade rumors continue to run rampant in Lakerland as NBA superstars Chris Paul and Dwight Howard are still on the Los Angeles Lakers radar moving forward. The most recent trade rumor in Los Angeles has the Lakers working on a three-team trade with the Houston Rockets and the New Orleans Hornets to acquire Chris Paul.
Reportedly, the details of the deal include the Houston Rockets trading forward Luis Scola and or guard Kevin Martin to the New Orleans Hornets (possibly draft picks as well) in exchange for Pau Gasol. In return, the Los Angeles Lakers would get perennial All-Star point guard Chris Paul and finally address the problems in the backcourt.
With the New Orleans Hornets not interested in getting Pau Gasol in return for Chris Paul via trade, the only way a deal could be made in order Lakers to acquire arguably one of the best point guards in the NBA today is to get another team involved. There is no telling how interested the Rockets are in making this deal, but this could be a deal that gets done as long as New Orleans believes this is the best trade option for their franchise player.
Along with the Los Angeles Lakers making this offer, the Boston Celtics and the New York Knicks continue to pursue Chris Paul. The Knicks are reportedly ready to offer Amare Stoudemire for Chris Paul and the Celtics have now added Jeff Green and first-round draft picks to their trade proposal.
Needless to say, things are really starting to heat up in the Chris Paul sweepstakes! It would be a safe bet to say that the four-time All-Star will be dealt before the 2011-12 NBA season gets underway on Christmas Day.
