With the Los Angeles Lakers currently struggling and sitting near the bottom of the Western Conference standings, the storied franchise has started to look toward the future. One player that appears to be destined to land with the Lakers is Kevin Love via ESPN's Chris Broussard on Jan. 30:

As for the Kevin Love-to-New York rumors, most executives believe Love is destined for the Lakers when he becomes a free agent in 2015. "That's a 100 percent certainty,'' one GM told me.

A few weeks ago, the rumors started to surface about Love favoring the Lakers once he becomes a free agent in 2015. Love hasn't been happy with the Minnesota Timberwolves over the past couple of years for a few different reasons and now it appears to have hit a boiling point with the superstar forward possibly looking forward to a future in Los Angeles.

Obviously, a lot can happen between now and the summer of 2015. Love could be traded or have a change of heart in terms of where he might want to play once able to simply sign elsewhere. That being said, anything is possible, but the Lakers definitely seem to have an edge once he becomes a free agent.

As for other free agent options for the Lakers, Eric Bledsoe emerged as a player the Lakers may be targeting this summer. Bledsoe will become a restricted free agent this summer giving the Phoenix Suns the opportunity to match any offer sent his way, but the Lakers may attempt to overpay in order to bring him to Los Angeles.

Another potential 2014 free agent in the Lakers' crosshairs is Carmelo Anthony.

Last season's scoring champion has the option to opt-out of his deal with the New York Knicks this summer with the Chicago Bulls and Lakers potentially atop the list of possibly free agent destinations. The Bulls may be the frontrunner at this point in time, but the Lakers aren't out of the running by no means.
