After six consecutive losses and more injuries to deal with, the Los Angeles Lakers have hit bottom with the team possibly headed toward another disappointing end to a season. Despite the fact that the Lakers are struggling, the team’s front office hasn’t stopped looking for options in free agency like Hedo Turkoglu according to Ismail Senol of NTV SPOR on Jan. 3:
Hidayet Türkoğlu won't listen any offers from Europe. He wants to stay in the NBA. Lakers and Hawks are interested.
With Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Steve Blake and Jordan Farmar still set to miss a few weeks; the Lakers are in desperate need for some help in the backcourt. Along with these four veterans, the Lakers may be without Xavier Henry for an extended part of time as well due to a bone bruise.
Needless to say, the Lakers need another capable scorer. Nick Young has shouldered the load off the bench for the Lakers, but Turkoglu could be a welcome addition to the team if able to continue to be a solid scoring threat in the NBA.
Throughout the majority of his career in the NBA, Turkoglu has played the small forward position, but is capable of playing shooting guard. The only problem the Lakers would face by bringing in Turkoglu would be the fact that the team would need to waive a player. The current roster has the maximum of 15 players after the signing of Kendall Marshall.
If the team intends to bring in the veteran, someone has to go.
