One of the most promising young players in the NBA today is Kyrie Irving and his future with the Cleveland Cavaliers appears to be very much up in the air. Irving may be on his way out in Cleveland and would be willing to leave if it meant going to the Los Angeles Lakers according to Mychal Thompson of ESPN 710 via Lakers Nation on Feb. 11:
My son Mychel, who is good friends with Kyrie since they played together in Cleveland, says that Kyrie said that if he did leave the Cavaliers, and the rookie-scale contract that he’s on right now, he would definitely do it for the Lakers.
With tension brewing in Cleveland and the team potentially considering life without another rising star, Irving may be on the move in the years to come. Although the Cavs have no intention to trade Irving, the up-and-coming point guard may eventually pave his way to Los Angeles.
Another big-name player that has been involved in Lakers rumors recently has been Kevin Love of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Love is another player that won't be moved in a trade before the deadline, but may choose to leave the T'Wolves as a free agent in the summer of 2015.
So despite the fact that the Lakers are struggling this season and the future remains uncertain to say the least, the storied franchise may have the opportunity to rebuild with talent young players like Irving and Love in the near future.
