The Kevin Love rumors continue to swirl around the NBA with the perennial All-Star linked to the Los Angeles Lakers once again. Many believe it's a foregone conclusion that Love will sign with the Lakers as a free agent in the summer of 2015. Love will likely choose between the Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves in free agency according to Frank Isola of the New York Times on March 5:
There are some interesting names out there including Kevin Love, who can become a free agent in 2015. But the word is Love will either re-sign with Minnesota or head to the Lakers, which sounds more plausible.
Lakers rumors are common place these days with the storied franchise always looking to improve their roster. With the Lakers in the midst of arguably the worst season in recent memory, the future is uncertain as Kobe Bryant enters the twilight of his career and Dwight Howard electing to sign with the Houston Rockets last summer.
As one of the few teams in the league that always seems to bounce back, the Lakers already have plans in place to rebuild the franchise in the post Kobe era in Los Angeles. Adding Love in the summer of 2015 and going after Kevin Durant in 2016 appears to be the current strategy for Mitch Kupchak and company.
Obviously, anything can happen between now and the summer of 2015. That being said, Love may still be on his way out of Minnesota in a deal before the trade deadline next season with Los Angeles potentially not being his next destination.
All signs seem to point to Love leaving the Timberwolves at some point in the near future, but it remains to be seen how he'll leave or if he ultimately does head for greener pastures.
