The Los Angeles Lakers just can't seem to stay healthy this season with players going down with injuries on a nightly basis. The latest player to suffer a setback on the Lakers roster is Xavier Henry according to Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters on Feb. 12:
Xavier Henry is out approx 4 more weeks. He's having his knee drained and having a cortisone shot (via @SerenaWinters)
Initially, Henry was expected to miss a week to 10 days with the knee injury suffered in the loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Dec. 29. Henry's knee injury occurred without contract leaving a lot of concern about if he'd be able to bounce back quickly.
With Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, Steve Nash, Steve Blake, Jodie Meeks and Nick Young all dealing with injuries as of late, Henry's knee injury has been overshadowed. Despite Henry playing in his first season with the Lakers, the former Kansas standout has made an impression on this team and may have shown enough to be re-signed by Los Angeles.
Unfortunately, Henry is one of many players to go down for the Lakers this season and the team limps into the NBA All-Star break. The injury riddled Lakers will get some much needed time off with no games for five days after Thursday night as they try to get healthy and turn it around in the second half of the season.
