The injury problems for the Los Angeles Lakers continue to get worse and worse with Pau Gasol being the latest player to go down. Gasol will miss the upcoming three-game road trip with a groin injury according to Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters on Feb. 1:
Pau Gasol's MRI revealed a strained right groin. OUT a min. of a week & will be re-evaluated when the team returns from its road trip.
Gasol suffered the groin injury in the loss to the Indiana Pacers earlier in the week and re-aggravated the injury in the loss to the Charlotte Bobcats on Friday night. Gasol tried to battle through the injury, but struggled and gave up 40 points and 18 rebounds to Al Jefferson.
With the Lakers continuing to struggle and Gasol playing for a new contract with the Lakers or elsewhere, playing through a groin injury during a road trip is definitely ill-advised.
Along with Gasol dealing with the groin injury, Chris Kaman is dealing with soreness in his right knee. Kaman underwent an MRI on Friday night as well, but the results were negative.
With Gasol on the shelf for at least the next three games, head coach Mike D'Antoni will likely turn to Robert Sacre, Jordan Hill and Kaman to shoulder the load.
