With three practices before their next game against the Sacramento Kings on Dec. 6, it will give Kobe Bryant the time to measure what he can do on the court after suffering an Achilles rupture. Bryant is making great progress each week, many are speculating that his return is approaching as early as this Friday.
After the first of three practices, the coaching staff and teammates were very complimentary of his progress today. According to his teammate Pau Gasol, the five-time champion looked good and was in a good rhythm via the Lakers official Twitter account:
"Pau on Kobe: 'Looked good. Can tell he's been working a lot on his own. He's in a good rhythm. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's practice'."
While everyone wants to see Bryant back as soon as possible, he is going to take his time to ensure that he doesn't suffer any setbacks once he returns. With so much skepticism surrounding his return due to the severity of the injury at age 34, Bryant doesn't want those opinions to become facts.
Without Bryant, the Lakers surprisingly have a 9-9 record and have been competitive in most games. However, they have missed having the best closer in the league as some of those losses have come in the final minutes. When Kobe is fully recovered and ready to play again, he will look to lead the Lakers into the postseason and beyond.
