Lakers News: Magic Johnson rips Lakers, Mike D'Antoni on Tonight Show

Magic Johnson is not afraid to speak his mind about the Los Angeles Lakers and the team's recent struggles over the last two years. On Jan. 27, Magic was at it again criticizes his former team while making an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

Last season, Magic was highly critical of the Lakers choosing to hire Mike D'Antoni as their new head coach instead of bringing back Phil Jackson for a third time. Jackson appeared to be ready to accept the job from the storied franchise, but then was informed that D'Antoni had be hired by the team.

Jackson being passed over left a bad taste in Johnson's mouth along with many Lakers fans that were ecstatic at the prospect of the Zen Master coming back to help this team get back on track.

Along with reiterating his disappointment in the front office's choice to hire D'Antoni on The Tonight Show, Magic also ripped the current Lakers coach for not preaching defense and not being a championship-caliber coach.

Needless to say, Magic isn't happy about the current situation in Los Angeles with his former team and will likely continue to express his strong opinions until something changes for the Lakers.
