Lakers News: Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol expected to play against Wizards

The Los Angeles Lakers will go head-to-head against the Washington Wizards on Friday night at the Staples Center with Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol ready to get back on the floor according to Ramona Shelburne of ESPNLosAngeles.com as of March 21:

Pau Gasol (foot) and Kobe Bryant (ankle, flu) both went through an intense practice Thursday and are expected to play when the Lakers host the Washington Wizards on Friday evening at Staples Center.

Gasol has been out of the lineup for the Lakers ever since Feb. 5 due to a torn plantar fascia. The Spanish forward has missed 20 games due to the foot injury and will finally return to the floor against the Wizards giving the Lakers more firepower in the frontcourt alongside Dwight Howard.

As for Bryant, the five-time champion has missed the last two games and the majority of the matchup against the Indiana Pacers one game after severely spraining his ankle in the loss to the Atlanta Hawks. Kobe attempted to play against the Pacers, but only managed a scoreless 12 minutes before sitting out the rest of the game.

The return of Kobe and Gasol should provide a considerable boost for the rested Lakers heading into their matchup against John Wall’s Wizards on Friday night.
