The injuries continue to run rampant for the Los Angeles Lakers with Nick Young being the latest player to go down. With Young and Jodie Meeks suffering injuries, the Lakers have been forced to bring in another player, but this time they've brought back a familiar face in the form of Shawne Williams according to Janis Carr of the OC Register on Feb. 6:
Nick Young is out for min of 2 weeks with patella/bone bruise. But help is on the way. Shawne Williams will be signed to a 10-day contract.
Back in early January, Williams was released by the Lakers opening up a roster spot on the squad. Williams had a non-guaranteed contract and was deemed expendable.
D-Leaguer Manny Harris was called up by the Lakers filling the roster spot taken by the released Williams. With Harris signing two 10-day contracts and unable to sign a third without being retained for the rest of the season, the Lakers have chosen to bring Williams back for a second stint this season.
Injuries continue to be a persistent problem for the Lakers as they try and get through arguably the most disappointing season in recent memory. Currently, the Lakers are without Meeks, Young, Pau Gasol and Kobe Bryant. The timetable for a return for all four of these players is uncertain, but re-evaluations will happen in the coming weeks.
