Lakers Injury Update: Kobe Bryant to have knee injury re-evaluated in February

After playing in only six games this season, Kobe Bryant went down with fractured knee injury and was back on the shelf for the Los Angeles Lakers. As a result of the knee injury, Bryant was set to miss six weeks, but it appears he'll be out longer than that with his knee set to be re-evaluated in February according to Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters via Twitter on Jan. 17:

"Kobe has no plans to sit out the rest of the season. He'll still be reevaluated in FebruaryFollow the Los Angeles."

Along with Bryant still being on the mend, the Lakers are also without Steve Nash, Steve Blake, Jordan Farmar and Xavier Henry. The backcourt has been absolutely decimated by injuries this season and it seems as though head coach Mike D'Antoni will be without his veteran leaders a little while longer.

Fortunately, newcomer Kendall Marshall has played much better than anticipated in his short time with the team. Marshall is averaging 12.2 assists per game as the starting point guard while Nash, Blake and Farmar continue to try and get back healthy.

Bryant was playing the point guard position in five of the six games he played this season. Once Bryant went down, the Lakers were forced to make a move to address the void in the backcourt and decided to bring in Marshall from the D-League.
