The Los Angeles Lakers are no stranger to being part of the NBA trade rumor mill and reports from EPSN on Jan. 3, 2014 are claiming that Pau Gasol is being linked with a deal that would send him to the Phoenix Suns.
With the Lakers currently at a dismal 16-31 before their game with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday night, the club are considering a deal that would send Gasol to the Arizona club in return for Emeka Okafor.
The Suns have the open salary cap room to handle a trade for the veteran forward and would see both sides benefit financially.
However, the Lakes camp claim that they will not part with Gasol on the basis of financial concerns alone.
The Lakers attempted a similar type of deal in December and January with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the involvement of ex-Laker center Andrew Bynum, but the deal fell through.
The jury is still out on whether the Suns can convince the Lakers to part with Gasol, but if the LA side continue to drop games then they may just cut their losses and go on the rebuilding wagon with the Boston Celtics whom are also rumored to be trading a way a key star in the form of Rajon Rondo.
