If you woke up in Lake Tahoe this morning it was probably a bone-chilling moment. Why? Because the temperature was being reported as a record-setting minus-14 degrees below.
It was even colder at Homewood Mountain Resort on Tahoe’s west side. The neighborhood ski resort was reporting a minus-17 degrees this morning.
The chilling temperatures are the primary weather story right now in the Tahoe region. After getting hit with multiple days of snow, there was none on Saturday at any Lake Tahoe ski resort – and there is no snow in the forecast through next weekend, according to The Weather Channel.
Although there is a zero-percent chance of snow for at least a week, the good news is the temperatures will be rising, probably on Tuesday.
Below is the National Weather Service forecast for today through Wednesday for the Lake Tahoe region.
Today: Sunny in the morning then becoming partly cloudy. Temperature highs 20 to 25. Light winds becoming northeast around 10 mph in the afternoon.
Tonight: Clear. Temperature lows 9 below to 1 above zero. East winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. Ridge gusts up to 70 mph.
Monday: Sunny. Temperature highs 22 to 27. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Gusts up to 30 mph in the morning. Ridge gusts up to 60 mph.
Monday Night: Clear. Temperature lows 1 to 11. Southeast winds up to 10 mph. Ridge gusts up to 55 mph.
Tuesday: Sunny. Temperature highs 34 to 44. East winds up to 10 mph shifting to the northeast in the afternoon. Ridge gusts up to 55 mph.
Tuesday Night: Clear. Temperature lows 7 to 17.
