Lake Tahoe ski report Feb. 18: Lake Tahoe could get foot of new snow on Tuesday (Photos)

Goodbye bluebird days, hello snow.

After a dry spell that lasted throughout much of January and ran into this month, the Lake Tahoe ski resorts should be receiving sizable snow amounts, starting Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service, there could be as much as a foot of fresh snow above 7,000 feet by Tuesday evening.

It could be a snowy week in Lake Tahoe. The Weather Channel predicts an 80-percent chance of snow Tuesday, then 20 percent through Friday, followed by a 50-percent chance on Saturday.

There will be a dramatic drop in temperatures this week as well. Temperatures starting Tuesday are expected to be in the mid-20s to mid-30s and dropping into single digits at night.

Temperatures will likely stay in that range until warming up by the weekend into the low 40s during the day.
