An optimistic weather forecast never materialized Sunday in the Lake Tahoe region. Although as much as 6 inches of fresh snow was anticipated, the reality was little snowfall arrived for Lake Tahoe ski resorts.
Resorts in the South Lake Tahoe area – Heavenly, Kirkwood, Sierra-at-Tahoe – all received a dusting of snow. However, no ski resorts in north Tahoe received any new snow.
And there’s not much chance of snow until Thursday. The Weather Channel is forecasting a 10-percent chance of snow today and Wednesday. On Thursday, the chance is 40 percent.
Temperatures will remain about the same through Wednesday with highs ranging into the mid-40s and the lows in the teens. The National Weather Service is forecasting a chilly Thursday with daytime highs only reaching the mid 20s, while the lows range between 3-13 degrees.

Today: Mostly cloudy. Patchy freezing fog in the morning. Temperature highs 33 to 43. East winds up to 10 mph in the morning becoming light. Ridge gusts up to 50 mph.
Tonight: Partly cloudy. Patchy freezing fog after midnight. Temperature lows 13 to 18. East winds up to 10 mph. Ridge gusts up to 60 mph after midnight.
Tuesday: Partly cloudy. Patchy freezing fog in the morning. Temperature highs 39 to 44. East winds up to 10 mph. Ridge gusts up to 60 mph.
Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy. Temperature lows 15 to 20. Light winds.
Wednesday: Mostly cloudy. Chance of snow and rain in the afternoon. Temperature highs 42 to 47. Southwest winds around 10 mph increasing to 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph in the afternoon. Ridge gusts up to 50 mph increasing to 75 mph in the afternoon.
Wednesday Night: Brisk. Snow likely. Temperature lows 9 to 14.
Thursday: Mostly cloudy with a chance of snow showers. Temperature highs 19 to 24.
